Camera Movement Basics

Pan  Tilt Zoom Pedestal shot Crane Steadicam Handheld Rack focus In this scene from The Lady Vanishes , the camera moves along a path, initially showing the mountains before showing the train station and the rest of the town. The camera movement in this scene is a dolly shot, which helps establish the town in which the beginning of the film takes place, as well as the location of the hotel within the town in the next scene. 0:48 - 0:56 In this scene from Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors , the tree falls down on the character Olekso. The film utilizes a crane shot to show the tree initially crashing towards the film's protagonist, Ivan, before his elder brother pushes him out of the way, which ends up costing him his life. I really liked how the shot was from the perspective of the tree, and how everything happened in only a few seconds. Editing Practice

 Recently, I learned more advanced edits in Adobe Premiere. I edited clips from two short films, and changed the color, added audio, and placed transitions in between clips. At first, it was really challenging, as I had never done most of those things on Premiere before, and it took a little getting used to. At one point, I had to start the project all over again because of a mistake I made. Eventually, I did manage to get the hang of it. I do think that the videos I made were successful in relation to the original clips provided, even if the film overall is much shorter. For this film, I added some music and a few transitions. I did try changing the colors a bit, but due to the darkness in the scene, it did not turn out well. I personally feel that the edit was successful in portraying the car crash, and I placed the clips slightly out of order in order to make it flow better.
